The Alpha State - Part 9 of 9 (End)

Military researchers are learning more about traumatic brain injury.

How to achieve Alpha?

These theories have yet to be scientifically proven and tenets are still in its infancy. Yet I have found significant success in applying the following exercises to achieve Alpha which are as follows:

Day 1: Make yourself busy and productive by working or reading. Just sleep 4        hours and awake early at a designated time. Whenever you find yourself falling asleep, walk around, pick-up a book and continue reading and being mentally active.

Day 2: Fight your sleepiness during the day. Keep yourself busy. Work, do chores, prepare reports, do things you love to do and most important of all read. Drink lots of liquids. Preferably, you must work until the sleepiness ends. Read or do some other forms of mental activity. Most of all fight sleep to the point of falling asleep. Sleep 3 ½ hours on day two.

Day 3: You will experience mental clarity. All senses are enhanced. Your eyes and mind are open. You are still in a state of mental struggle. This is where your mind is working overtime to compensate your body’s perceived tiredness. Keep busy working, reading and keep your body moving. Avoid television. Sleep 3 hours.

Day 4:  Your mind now is sharp, focused and undisturbed. Continue working and reading. Drink lots of liquids. Keep busy. Fight sleep. Do mental exercises like math problems, IQ tests and complex mind exercises. Find a topic of interest and write down your opinions, views and come up with solutions. Sleep 2 ½ hours.

Day 5:  You are no longer sleepy. You can control sleep. Rest for 30 mins. at a time. Continue working and reading. Start to write down your thoughts. Go outside and get inspiration from nature. Look around you and see the beauty of this world. Start thinking positive thoughts. Ask why things are the way they are in your mind. Drink lots of liquids. “First things first, but not necessarily in that order.” Prioritize, but adjust to crisis and changing situations.

The Alpha State - Part 8 of 9

The Purpose

The purpose of this is to document what is the past, to analyze the present and present a better future. The Alpha state is such a powerful tool which can be used for good as well as for evil. The repercussions of these are evident.

If one only uses the mind and not the body and soul he will be a great thinker, but amount to only recording the past, criticizing the present and inventing the future. They are limited since they did not use their bodies and soul to reach greater heights. If you only develop the body you are like the star athlete, but after your career you retire dirt poor. Lastly, if you only develop your soul you will achieve great holiness, but will be limited to prayer to answer all problems of this world and not act to change it.

What I want to do is to release the Alpha state in everyone -- to develop the body, mind and soul of every individual to his or her potential. Is it impossible? No, nothing is impossible if one is trained and guided how to do it.

All of these are theories yet to be validated. The world is changing and it is getting smaller. Due to advances in science, technology and human relations we are at the forefront of a new dawn. New technologies like business networking sites, cash free shopping, flying cars, cash-less society and space exploration will come soon.

We cannot stop change in a changing world. We have to adopt or be left behind in the process. Connectivity on the internet will reach an all-time high. Those individuals who are able to change and adapt to the changing world will reap its benefits.

The Alpha State - Part 7 of 9

Body, Mind & Soul – In and Out

The body is our physical being. What we eat and expose our bodies to is what our body becomes. Garbage in, garbage out. Do you feel tired and have low energy? It is because you have not trained your body not to feel tired. Can you run a marathon now? No, because you have not been trained to. A marathon runner did not start out running 42 kms. on his first day of practice. He gradually built-up his stamina and his muscles until such a time that he is able to finish the race. That is the same way with our bodies. We have to train it. We want to be fit we have to eat the right food with moderation and exercise. When we eat the wrong foods we are readying ourselves to sicknesses and diseases. It’s because our immune system gives out and the antibodies in our bodies is at an all time low. How do you think people in the provinces of Japan live over 100 years old? They primarily eat fish and vegetables - fresh fish, fresh vegetables & breathe non-polluted air.

The mind or brain is the control center of our body. “Whatever the mind can conceive the body can achieve”. Negativity in then negativity out. We are so much influenced by books, the media, television, and the internet. What do we feed our minds? Whatever we feed our mind is reflected in our body and soul or spirit. There will be manifestations of what we see, heard, smell and eat in our mind. The mind is very powerful but it also needs fuel to run. What we feed our bodies makes our mind weak or the opposite very strong. Everything is intertwined and connected. The brain is also a muscle. It also needs exercise. We need to work it to exhaustion for it to release its potential. Have you ever done a thesis, or a project, or a job with such a tight schedule? How were you able to finish it in just the nick of time? You used your body and mind to do that. How great you will be if you work starting today with a deadline…for the rest of your life. That is the Alpha State – reaching a higher state of being and controlling your mind and body to accomplish unbelievable acts.

Many in the past have used their body and mind to accomplish unbelievable acts like professional boxer, congressman and  businessman Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines. He started as a dirt poor boy from General Santos in the Philippines. Now is a billionaire admired the world over for his accomplishments in boxing, politics as well as in business. He might be the Philippines’ first boxer turned President if he wanted to. What is his secret? How did he become so successful? For one he had a mentor in his boxing coach Freddie Roach. Also, he had great people guiding him and advising him in his political as well as in his businesses. Lastly, he has his mother Donesia always praying for him. His faith or soul and body has brought him to the very top of his game both in his professional, personal and business life. What is missing still?

The soul is the very essence of our being- that which is invisible to the eye, but have moved mountains, divided nations and conquered the world. Faith in then faith out. We have great spiritual leaders like the Pope John Paul II, Mother Theresa, Mahatma Ghandi, and Mike Velarde in the Philippines. They have developed their soul using their mind to achieve nearly miraculous feats. They have inspired millions and even today their work has not been forgotten. They used their intellect to seek the mind of God and bring goodness to the world.

The Alpha State - Part 6 of 9

Needs, Wants & Values

Our thoughts and thinking, who we are, are influenced by our needs, wants and values.

Needs are things that we have to have in the present which includes food, clothing, shelter and communication. Everything that has ever been invented stemmed from a need or an innovation of that. We are live in nature so we have to adopt to it. Our food was created according to whatever there is in our environment. In the east, their food is mostly from eastern produce and ingredients and the same goes for the west. Clothing is sourced out from available materials. Shelter is an innovation on how to live in otherwise unlivable environments. Communication is our way of keeping in touch to those we know – our friends and family.

Wants are our desires, dreams and aspirations. We derive inspiration on our wants which is yet to come. This is something we want in the future and for our future.

Values is a higher state  of  being. This pertains to something loftier or higher than the physical – what we see, feel and perceive. It is the very core of our being.

Mentor

A mentor is a guiding influence in your life. He can be a parent, a friend, a boss or a spiritual leader. Find your mentor. He will show you the way to move from achieving your needs to getting your wants and finding out your values.

All the achievers, millionaires and successful people in the world have mentors. No one is born a leader, but can be developed into one. Someone or somebody somehow must have influenced and trained him.

The Alpha State - Part 4

The Alpha State

People in the Alpha get little or no sleep. On the average 2 to 3 hour intervals twice a day or power naps all throughout the day. To quote Mr. Manny Pangilinan the Chairman of Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT) in the Philippines, “Sleeping is for wimps.” Why? Our mind or brain is always awake. It is only our physical body that rests. In fact our mind dreams for if it shuts down we die as a result. We live in a world wherein the accepted norm is 8 hours sleep, but not individuals in the Alpha state. They are so busy with what they are doing, creating start-ups, innovating this and inventing that they seem possessed and have no time to sleep.

What is our perception of sleep? Sleep is defined by Merriam-Webster as “the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during which the powers of the body are restored.” The key word here is “the body”. During Alpha the body takes the back seat. In other words “Mind over matter”. How many stories have we seen of almost superhuman feats in sports -- people who have gone against all odds to achieve the unachievable. Take for example Lance Armstrong the 7 time winner of the Tour de France. He was diagnosed with brain cancer yet he was able to achieve the impossible conquer the Tour de France 7 times. When his doctors told him he would not race again he did not believe them and instead let his mind take over. Not only did he win seven times, he even cured himself of cancer that was killing him. Such is the power of the mind. Others term it as placebo effect.

In my opinion, our mind or brain can cure all diseases if we have all the necessary tools to do such. If we lack the necessary vitamins, constantly bombarded by stress and never eat the right foods or get the necessary exercise then we will get sick and cannot cure ourselves.
